We knew that James' orders would be up in March of 2013 and that we wanted to move back to Colorado...so the job hunt for James began. He sent out hundreds of resumes and interviewed numerous times, but nothing was coming to fruition. In September things started to look up...there was a job opening in El Paso, Texas...but did we really want to move so close to the Mexico boarder?! Seeing that nothing else was even coming available we started house hunting online for a home in El Paso. During this time my parents came to Virginia to spend 12 days with us...we had a blast!! We were trying to keep the job search on the downlow since nothing was looking too promising. Well right before my parents arrived a job opening became available in Cheyenne, Wyoming and James did a phone interview...now this job was looking pretty promising, so we began looking online for houses in Wyoming. After all this time and now 2 jobs to choose between!!! Just days before my parents were leaving to head back to Colorado, the Wyoming job made him an offer and he accepted! We were so excited to share the great news with my parents in person...Cheyenne was just a short drive to Brighton! The following weekend James and I loaded up his car and drove cross-country to Cheyenne. We met with a realtor and spent 2 days house hunting and by the end of the 2nd day we had found the perfect house for us...closing was set for December!
Not even two weeks later James and I found out that we were expecting again! We were beyond thrilled to be pregnant! Little Lyle is due July 12, 2013. But panic set in as we were going to be moving cross-country during the critical weeks of my 1st trimester. My OB in Virginia was kind enough to do an ultrasound and bloodwork at 6 weeks 4 days...we saw a heart beat! This eased some stress of driving cross-country. I also had a ultrasound set up with an OB in Cheyenne for when we got there...things were falling nicely into place!
James put in his notice with the HTS (Army) and the Tuesday before Thanksgiving we moved out of our apartment in Virginia...no tears were shed, it was more of a good ridden VA!! We drove down to North Carolina to spend the holiday with his parents and share the baby news with them :-) On the last night there morning sickness hit HARD. So, the next 3 days spent driving cross-country were miserable!! I learned real quick how to throw up in a public restroom without touching anything. I also learned that the further west we drove the worse the bathrooms got. When we arrived at my parents in Colorado, I was so sick, but wanted to wait and tell my parents together...luckily they were both home! I think I was green when I walked in their door...we told them our happy news and then I cried from being so miserable.
James started his new job (Wyoming National Guard accountant) the 1st week in December, but we hadn't closed on our new house yet so he commuted from my parents to Cheyenne everyday...what a trooper! My morning sickness was getting worse and I ended up in Urgent care just shy of 8 weeks pregnant. They gave me fluids and Zofran and sent me home...praying for a miracle! A couple days later we closed on our house and moved in the following weekend. I was of no help, but we had wonderful friends (Majors and Chriscadens---thanks!) and my dad, so it went rather smoothly. Here it is a month later and I still haven't finished unpacking...ugh!
At 10 weeks pregnant I was still battling with awful morning sickness and my OB sent me to the ER. From there I was admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with Hypermesis Gravidarum (HG)...may ring a bell - Princess Kate had the same diagnosis several weeks ago. I stayed for 3 days and was a given lots of fluids and a combo of Phenergan and Zofran...which has helped me keep some food and medicine down!! I am now just shy of 16 weeks and still take the combo every 3 hours. Some days are great and others are miserable. We got to see our little one suck its thumb and kick like crazy during an ultrasound 2 weeks ago...made all these yuckies I am feeling worth while :-)
We are adjusting to life in the windy state of Wyoming, but overall we really think we are going to like it here! James enjoys his job duties, loves that there is a gym at his work and has found some decent Mexican food near by. I haven't ventured out much due to being sick, but that is okay...I have spent lots of time day dreaming about our little one and making plans for decorating the nursery! It is so amazing to see what God has done in our lives in just a short amount of time!
I **promise** I will do better at keeping this blog up and running...I wrote the password down in my phone, so no chance of forgetting it this time! Keep checking back for baby updates and life in Cheyenne!

Love this! So excited for you! Kim
ReplyDeleteSooooo happy for you. I know your first loss was hard as I went through 2 before finally getting my angel, and God does work in amazing ways. You deserve the best in life and I am do glad things are going great for you and James. Congrats and don't forget to come and visit if you are in town.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're closer to your parents again! Having your mom around is so important when you're having a baby. Your relationship with her will change too, as you become a mother. It gets better!
ReplyDeleteAnd I know that this is very little comfort, but my OB/GYN told me that strong morning sickness is actually a good indicator of a healthy baby. Something about your pregnancy hormones being stronger, so it's better for the Little. Not much comfort, but hang in there!
Stephanie I am SO, SO, SO excited for you and James! I am sorry to hear you had a rough first trimester -- I pray that the rest of your pregnancy is more comfortable! Congrats my friend!!!!
ReplyDeleteYay for your new house and the baby on the way! Sorry the pregnancy is so rough though--hope you continue to feel better each day!
